What Is Health Coaching?

With widespread access to social media and endless amounts of information, we all know what we are supposed to be doing to be healthier happier people. Eat more whole foods, move more, and stress less, but most of us get stuck on the “how”. Well, that’s where I come in as a health coach I look at the whole picture of your unique life story and help you implement the changes you want to make. No matter where you are in your journey there are always benefits in bringing a health coach onto your team, if you're just starting out on your health journey you can use me to help guide you on what issues we should get a handle on first. Maybe you’ve been chugging along your health journey for a while now and have a whole team of people behind you already, a health coach can help you implement the changes your practitioners have prescribed to you and give you encouragement along the way. No matter where you are in your journey everyone needs a personal cheerleader!

Health coaches are not here to diagnose you or dictate your health journey. As a health coach, I’m here is encourage, educate, and guide. Telling you what to do or what your bad habits are will only make short-term changes much like fad diets, they last for a little while but eventually fade out. My goal is to guide you to your own aha moment. Realizations and changes you find and make yourself will create long-lasting change. Everyone’s session with a health coach will look very different and your session will vary from session to session depending on what you’re working on. Some sessions might feel light and breezy catching up on what your day-to-day has been and another session might be very nitty gritty getting into nutrition and habits. Everyone’s story, needs and goals are will be individual and unique just like you! As your health coach, I can’t wait to celebrate your unique self and encourage you every step of your journey!

I’m not sick is a health coach still right for me?

Yes of course! Health Coaches are a great addition to anyone’s support team. Maybe all you need is a little support and to feel like you have someone in your corner routing you on, or maybe you’re feeling lost and need a little help figuring out what path would work best for you and your health. Health coaches can do both of those things.

My doctor just gave me a weight loss/diet plan and I don’t even know where to start can a health coach help?

Yep! They sure can! As a health coach, I am not here to give you a diagnosis, but I am here to help you implement the changes your practitioners have prescribed. That can be anything from a new diet plan, exercise plan, or more vague lifestyle changes. As your health coach, I’m here to break down the huge oh so daunting changes you or your practitioner would like you to make into more bite-sized pieces that feel good to you.

I’m feeling a bite off and would like to make some changes, but don’t know what yet. would I still benefit from coaching?

Yes, absolutely! As your health coach, I’d have us start by looking at where you are right now and then as a team get clear on where you want to go from here. Together we’d set tangible and achievable goals to get you to where you want to be.

I’ve been struggling with health problems for a while and have been searching for a diagnosis can you do that?

No, as a health coach, my job is not to diagnose you, but what I can do is help you find the practitioners and support team to help you find the answers you’re looking for and support you along during that journey as I know how hard and discouraging it can be at times.

I’m looking to try out a new diet and am looking for someone to make me a diet plan. Can you do that for me?

My job as your health coach is not to write a diet plan for you, but to look at this new diet and your lifestyle and find what works for you. During our session, we can collaborate together as a team to make a meal plan that works for you and your lifestyle.

What would our coaching sessions look like?

Each session will look a little different but each session will be 50 min long. I’ll start our session with a grounding exercise and then ask permission to proceed with coaching. We’ll take a few minutes to catch up with each other and check in on progress or talk about any roadblocks you came across following our last session. after getting caught up I’ll ask you what you’d like to focus on for the days’ session.
